Today, April 22, 2019, is Earth Day!
According to Greek mythology, Gaia, from Ancient Greek, is the personification of the Earth.
She is also one of the Greek primordial deities. Gaia is, and represents the ancestral mother for all life.
She is considered to be the primal Mother Earth goddess. Gaia is the parent of Uranus "the sky."
From this sexual union she gave life to the Titans; who were also, parents of many of the Olympian gods.
She was also parent to the Giants and Pontus "the sea." From her union with Pontus she gave life to primordial sea gods. In the Roman pantheon her equivalent was Terra.
Any oath that was sworn in the name of Gaia, in ancient Greece, was considered the most binding of all.
It breaks my heart as a Wiccan that the world only has one Earth Day. Every day shoud be Earth Day because this is the only place we can call home!
My wish is that the w🌎rld will wake up and see the beating the earth is taking and save her.
If we destroy her, we can't go next door and start over. We're done.
Everyone should re-cycle, of course! That is huge for Earth, and imagine how the landfills would decrease if Everyone recycled across the globe.
Landfills have never been so full and are moving to our Oceans, lakes, and rivers. The environmental impact of what we are doing to Mother Earth is horrific.
Reclycling is something we all can do and it is so very easy. Almost every trash company offers recycle cans. Ask for yours!
There are other thing's you can do also. Like putting your trash where it belongs. Make sure the lid is closed on the trash can. Don't over fill uncovered trash cans, outside, that are near to full. A small wind will blow it to ground. Most of our trash is toxic to friends of the forest.
Littering is horrible across the world. Each year thousands of pounds of plastic and trash are cleaned off beaches and out of our Oceans. We're killing the animals and creating things like bacteria and toxic alge that should never be here.
Groups all across the world are gathering and putting together cleaning parties for the beaches, oceans, and other water systems. They do this everyday. Not just Earth Day. Join a group and be an advocate for Earth.
I, as a wiccan, love to give back to Gaia, Mother Earth.
As a mother, I like to do things with my children so that Earth Day is also fun for them, as well. We take limbs, sticks, and twigs that have naturally fallen to the ground and we make earth dolls.
We paint stones with non toxic paint (you can make paint colors yourself, recipe below), and place them around our tree.
I'm teaching my children reclycling in the best way. The best dolls aren't purchased but made with love and things right in our own backyard.
